Beef Stifado

A classic dish that we usually enjoy during the winter. It's easy to prepare and undoubtedly a delight for food enthusiasts who appreciate it alongside a glass of wine (you can mention a couple of Greek wine examples).


Let's take a look at our ingredients:


1.5 kg beef (shoulder or veal olive)
1.5 kg pearl onions
3-4 cloves of garlic
 1 shot glass of brandy
½ wine glass of red wine
1 tomato, grated
A little olive oil
Salt, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, thyme

Directions

Take a deep pot and add a little olive oil. Add the pearl onions and let them caramelize while stirring continuously. Once they are ready, remove them from the pot. In the same oil, saute the beef, turning it around until it has a uniform color (and the liquids have evaporated). Add the pearl onions, garlic, and extinguish with brandy and wine. Then add the grated tomato and our spices. Let it simmer for about 1.5 hours. You can serve the dish with potatoes, rice, pasta, etc.

You can also add a small strip of orange zest, which will enhance the flavors of our spices and the dish.
