Savory trout-cheese cake

Product

Recipe-Ingrediants

A dish that is quintessentially Finnish, a savory cake with salmon and Philadelphia cream cheese, usually served as an appetizer in buffets or at formal occasions such as Christmas or birthdays. Today, we will see a Greek version of it, using local products! It is a quick and easy dish that doesn't take much time and will make you look good even in a difficult moment!
We can make it in a round or rectangular mold.

For this recipe, we will need:
• A toast bread loaf
• 500g of Domokos cheese
• One finely chopped onion
• Finely chopped dill
• One smoked or marinated Karpenisi trout
• A few cherry tomatoes
• One cucumber
• One lemon

Directions

First, we remove the crust from the toast bread slices and lay them on the bottom of the mold. In a bowl, we mix half of the cheese and one-third of the trout, add the lemon juice, dill, and onion, and stir well. Then we spread the mixture over the toast bread slices in the mold, and repeat the process for a second layer.
For the third layer, we lay cucumber slices and halved cherry tomatoes over the trout-cheese mixture. Then we spread the remaining trout and cheese mixture over them, and finally, we cover the top with another layer of toast bread slices. We put the mold in the fridge for half an hour.
While it is cooling, we can prepare the garnish. We cut the cherry tomatoes in half, make thin cucumber slices, chop some dill, and grate lemon zest.
After half an hour, we take the mold out of the fridge, remove the cake from the mold, and place it on a platter. We spread the remaining cheese over the top, and then we decorate it with the garnish.
Enjoy your savory trout-cheese cake!
