Sweet Fried Egg Slices

Easy and quick sweet fried egg slices for our breakfast. Generations have grown up with this morning treat, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with honey, warm and comforting...

Can you think of anything better for a sweet start to the day?

Ingredients:

  • ½ loaf of fresh bread, sliced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 vanilla pod or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 400 grams of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Honey for topping
  • Cinnamon, brown sugar
  • Seasonal fruits, walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the milk, eggs, vanilla, and whisk until the ingredients are well blended.
  2. Cut the bread into slices approximately 2 cm thick and place them in a baking dish. Pour the milk mixture over the bread and let it soak for 2-3 minutes until the bread absorbs the milk. Then flip the bread slices over.
  3. In a frying pan, heat a small amount of vegetable oil and butter. Start frying 2-3 slices of bread at a time in the pan. Flip them over and remove them from the pan when they have a light golden color. Place them on absorbent paper.
  4. Serve the fried egg slices warm, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon and brown sugar. You can also add walnuts or serve them with seasonal fruits.
