Apple sauce is a velvety puree made from apples and spices. Despite our country producing wonderful apples, it's not very widely known. You can prepare it in jars and keep it for a long time.
Depending on what it will accompany, you can tailor its flavor with the spices and herbs you add. It pairs wonderfully with pork (such as pork chops, loin, etc.), chicken, and also in a sweet version with aromatic spices (cinnamon, cloves, allspice, ginger, etc.) to accompany fritters, cakes, strudels, muffins, waffles, and more.
It also combines beautifully with dried fruits like figs, apricots, etc., as well as with herbs like sage, thyme, etc.
Apple sauce is a base that you can customize according to your taste and imagination. Use different apple varieties for a more flavorful result.
Now let's take a look at the basic and easy recipe.
Our Ingredients
600 g red apples, cleaned and diced
3 tbsp brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
? tsp salt
30 g butter
Place our ingredients in a small saucepan and simmer until the apples soften. Then, using an immersion blender, puree the sauce. Simmer for a little longer, stirring constantly, to achieve the desired consistency (depending on how thick you want your sauce and its intended use).
-You can replace the butter with a bit of olive oil or even 2 tbsp of lemon juice."
Please note that while I strive for accuracy, cooking measurements can sometimes be quite specific, and it's always a good idea to double-check the measurements and directions when following a recipe.
