Bergamot Liqueur

Product

Recipe-Ingrediants

A delightful, refreshing, aromatic, and light liqueur that shines during the winter season, especially on occasions like Christmas and holidays. Since it's produced relatively quickly, we double (or even triple) the quantity to ensure we have enough all year round!

Here are the ingredients we will need:

10 bergamot fruits

400g sugar

500g water

700g ouzo or vodka

Directions

After thoroughly washing the bergamots, we dry them and use a peeler to remove the outer zest, being careful not to include the white pith. (We can keep the white pith aside for making candied bergamot peel.)

In a clean jar, place the zest and the ouzo or vodka, and let it sit in a cool, shaded place for approximately 10 days or more.

Once the 10 days have passed, in a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring it to a boil until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove it from the heat and let it cool.

Once cooled, strain the ouzo or vodka infused with bergamot zest using a cheesecloth or a double-layered mesh cloth.

Incorporate the liquid with the sugar syrup, mix well, and it's ready to serve.

Enjoy it neat or with crushed ice as a refreshing indulgence after a meal.
