Caramel Drops for Winter

Product

Recipe-Ingrediants

In my house, there are always caramel drops... always a jar of caramel drops to keep me company... at home, during my travels, everywhere. You can make different flavors according to your preferences. Here, I'll give you my own tasty version.

Ingredients:

  • 300g sugar
  • 170g water
  • 40g lemon (for vitamin C and flavor)
  • 40g orange (for vitamin C and flavor)
  • 3g cinnamon powder (for throat soothing properties and flavor)
  • 1/4  tsp clove powder (for throat soothing properties and flavor)
  • 40g honey (to soften the throat)
  • ½ tsp ginger powder (for immune-boosting properties)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Add the remaining ingredients and let them simmer until they reach a dark caramel color.
  2. If you have a candy thermometer, the caramel drops are ready when the temperature reaches 147°C (297°F). If you don't have a thermometer, you can check by dropping a small amount of caramel into a bowl of cold water. Take a small amount with a clean, dry spoon (be careful as it will be hot), and place it in the cold water. Take the caramel with your fingers. It should be firm and elastic. Once it cools on a greased surface, it should harden. Then it will be ready.
  3. When the caramel is ready, spread a sheet of parchment paper on a clean surface. Using a small spoon, create small drops (tiny caramel candies). Let them cool.
  4. Dust them with powdered sugar and remove them from the surface.

During the cold days of winter, you can make tea and add one caramel drop to let it melt... it will be excellent. You can also add two caramel drops to hot water for instant relief for stuffy noses, sore throats, and breathing difficulties. It will warm you up immediately!
