Dried oranges

Product

Recipe-Ingrediants

With so many oranges produced by our tree this year, no matter how many sweet treats I make or how much juice I squeeze, there are always leftovers! So, I decided to dry them to have them all year round for my tea and as decorations around the house during winter, even as potpourri! You will need thinly sliced oranges.

Directions

Slice the oranges into very thin slices of equal thickness. Place them in a food dehydrator and set the temperature to 60 degrees Celsius for 24 hours. Once done, let them cool completely and store them in a glass jar. If you don't have a dehydrator, you can dry them in a microwave. After slicing your oranges, pat them dry with a paper towel and try to remove as much juice as possible (careful not to break the fibers). Then place them in the microwave for 2 minutes at medium temperature. Take them out, pat them dry, turn them over and repeat the process as needed. If you don't have a microwave, you can dry them in the oven by laying the slices on a baking sheet and baking them at 100 degrees Celsius for about 4 hours. Every half an hour or so, take them out, pat them dry, and turn them over. You can use the same process to dry lemons, mandarins, grapefruits, squashes, and more.
