Recipe-Ingrediants

No introduction is needed to talk about loukoumades...

We can make them all the time, and there will never be a single one left... There will always be someone complaining because they're gone!

Our Ingredients:

280g water

200g self-rising flour

1 packet of dry yeast or 25g fresh yeast

½ tsp sugar

½ tsp salt

Vegetable oil for frying

For the Syrup:

250ml lukewarm to hot water

220g sugar

1 lemon (juice)

1 cinnamon stick

3-4 cloves

Directions

For Serving: 1 banana, sliced Coarsely chopped walnuts Thyme honey Melted milk chocolate Cinnamon Ice cream

In a large bowl, mix the yeast, flour, and sugar. Gradually add the water until you have a thick batter for the loukoumades. Finally, add the salt.

Cover the bowl and let the batter rise in a warm place.

Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan or deep fryer.

Moisten your hands and with your left hand, take a small amount of batter, and with a teaspoon in your right hand, shape the batter into small balls and drop them into the hot oil.

The teaspoon should be wet, so keep a glass of water nearby to dip it in after each shaping.

Let them fry for a few minutes until golden brown.

Once they are ready, remove them with a slotted spoon and drain them on absorbent paper.

Serve them warm with your choice of syrup, thyme honey, cinnamon and crushed walnuts, melted chocolate and grated walnuts, or banana slices. Whichever way you serve them, I'm sure not a single loukoumada will be left!

Filled Loukoumades: Filled loukoumades can be made with various seasonal fruits such as peaches, apricots, grapes, etc. Here, I provide some fruits of my choice as examples.

1 banana

1-2 slices of canned pineapple

½ tart apple

½ apple

1 portion of loukoumades batter

Take the fruits, wash and peel them, and cut them into small pieces.

Once the batter has risen, dip the fruits into it, and using a spoon, take some batter and fruit and drop it into the hot oil to fry.

Once they turn golden, carefully remove them and place them on absorbent paper.

Serve them with a scoop of ice cream on top, drizzle with honey, sprinkle with walnuts, and dust with cinnamon.
